Giovani Biga is one of Indonesia’s uprising and promising classical talents of his generation who seems destined for stardom on an international scale.
Winning some national and international competitions, most recently at the Stockholm International Violin Competition in Sweden. His musical career was started from the early age on, first coming to recognition at 14 when he made a solo orchestral debut. Giovani Biga has performed with almost every major orchestra and symphony in Indonesia such as Jakarta Concert Orchestra, Nusantara Symphony Orchestra, Jakarta Sinfonietta, Twilite Youth Orchestra, Jakarta String Ensembel, Concordia Orchestra, Trust Orchestra, The Butterfly Symphony Orchestra and more. Born in Tangerang in 1995, he first picked up the violin at the age 9 under Mr. Damianus, followed by further tutoring from Joel Suprapto, Amelia Tionanda, Amelia, Prima Muchlisin, Fafan Isfandiar and Marcel Kustandi (Piano).
A recent Summa Cum Laude graduate with a Bachelor of Music and Master of Music degree in Violin Performance from the Hochschule für Musik Detmold (Germany), where he studied with Prof. Ulrike Anima Mathé and at the Hochschule für Musik “Hanns Eisler” Berlin under the guidance of Prof. Ulf Wallin. He was the recipient of the much-coveted scholarship Gesellschaft der Freunde und Förderer der Hochschule für Musik (GFF), DAAD Pries and Deutschland Stipendium.
Sought-after as a soloist, ensemble player and tutti orchestral member both in Indonesia and abroad - Giovani Biga’s growing musical bio includes stints as Concert Master of the Twilite Youth Orchestra, Jakarta Concert Orchestra, Jakarta Sinfonietta, Jakarta Simfonia Orchestra and Hochschulorchester Detmold, as a tutti player in Hamburger Camerata, Minden Kammerphilharmonie and Detmolder Kammerorchester. In 2013 he was selected as the representative of Indonesia in Asian Youth Orchestra performing in many prestigious concert halls around Asia. Recently he just got selected to play with Korean Symphony Orchestra at the Seoul Arts Center. His growing list of international awards came to include winning some prizes in Chamber Music at the Arnuero XXIV International Music Competition in Spain and Auryn Kammermusik Wettbewerb 2016 in Germany. He is currently the member of a well-established group, Jakarta Trio.
He has taken part in various masterclasses and Private Lessons with Boris Berman(USA), Alain Meunier(France), Jeno Kopandi(Concert Master of Vienna Symp. Orchestra), Guarneri Trio (Hungary), Beethoven Trio Bonn(Germany), Boston String Quartet(USA),Prof. Vasille Beluska (USA), Piotr Tarcholik(Poland), Auryn Quartet(Germany), Prof. Xenia Jankovich(Serbia), Prof. Peter Orth(USA), Prof. Thomas Christian(Germany), Prof. Diemut Popen(Germany), Prof. Josef Rissin (Germany), Jan Bjøranger (Norway), Richardo Chechetti (Italy) and had some collaboration concerts with Thomas Beijer(Holland), Kraayehof Tango Ensemble(Holland), Ananda Sukarlan(Indonesia), Prof. Peter Orth(Piano,USA), Prof. Harmut Schneider(Germany) and many more.

His Violin

Biga currently plays on an old german violin made by Kurt Brandt in 1945, in the city of Markneukirchen which is known as the Cremona of Germany because of its fine violin makers.
